Lee Silber is a surf shop owner who became the best selling author of 15 books including "The Wild Idea Club". He started his first small business at the age of eleven and has since founded five others including a chain of retail stores and a corporate training company with clients that include the San Diego Padres, Wells Fargo, Marriott, Petco, Lucent, Qualcomm, and GM. Silber has hosted his own radio talk show and been featured in USA Today and appeared on CNN. An aard-winning speaker, Silber has given over 1,100 speeches to over 550,000 people around the world. Lee lives with his wife and two young sons in Mission Beach, California.

Jennifer’s expertise spans a variety of industries, including state and federal government, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, finance, retail and manufacturing firms. An accomplished speaker, she shares her passion and enthusiasm with various organizations including recruitcamp, Mid-Atlantic Physician Recruiter Association, VA SHRM and SHRM Staffing Talent and Management conference.

The passage of Healthcare Reform in March 2010 has changed the way we recruit and retain this nation’s healthcare employees. Mix those changes with rapidly evolving technology, retiring Baby Boomers, the demands of Generation Y, rapid growth of for-profit organizations and changes in communication and you have a world that demands a different type of recruitment professional. This session will cover the ramifications of these changes and offer best practices for both recruitment and retention along with characteristics of what makes an outstanding recruitment professional in this new business-driven healthcare environment.

Greta Sherman has over 25 years of experience in recruitment and retention program development and is recognized nationally for her work in healthcare standards development of human resource metrics, benchmarking and best practices. Greta has taught the Advanced Recruiter Workshop at the national NAHCR conference for the last 15 years. Holding undergraduate degrees from the University of Kentucky and her master's work from Johns Hopkins University, she is also involved with a number of organizations, including: a member of the Human Capital Metrics Consortium, serves on the Nursing Practice and Education Coalition funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Advisor to the American Association of Colleges and works with NAHCR and Sigma Tau. Greta speaks nationally on healthcare reform and other topics having an impact on an organization's ability to attract, recruit and retain appropriate employees. .

“How Recruiters can Impact Patient Satisfaction Scores”!

Patient Satisfaction metrics are already influencing consumer choices about where they go for medical care. Metrics like HCHAPS may impact reimbursement rates as well. HR and recruiting teams can make an impact and drive results. By hiring and training employees to perform well on the key performance criteria of the HCHAPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey, HR can make a difference. This presentation provides a framework for how hospital recruiting teams can pro-actively contribute to managing for success in the age of increased importance of consumer feedback.

Sheri Miller, Vice President of the West Region for SkillSurvey, has extensive talent acquisition and management experience. Working a number of years in education and development for private industry, ensuring the business needs of the organization are aligned with learning and development plans. As a senior performance consultant with Oracle she worked with global organizations, supporting alignment of business needs with ERP systems. For the past 10+ years she has been consulting with organizations as they make purchasing decisions on tools to support performance and learning management systems. Most recently, she has been working with hospitals as they look at ways to impact quality of hire in the ever changing healthcare environment.

Texas Board of Nursing – Overview of current and future issues regarding nursing licensure in Texas!

Review of changes in licensing requirements, background checks, nursing practice issues, etc.

Mark Majek has served as the Director of Operations for the Texas Board of Nursing for the past 23 years. His duties include oversight of finance, information technology, licensing, customer support and publications. He serves as the sole HR Practitioner for the Texas Board of Nursing and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources from the Society for Human Resource Management. He is currently the Chair of the Small State Agency Task Force and has served as past Chair of the Texas State Human Resource Association and a past board member of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. He is currently serving on several state committees representing small state agencies in the State of Texas. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and Master's Degree in Communication and Business from Corpus Christi State University.
